For a directory of all the glider ride operations in the United States please visit www.glidersailplanerides.com. This directory also shows which glider operators in the country honor “national flight certificates”. Currently in the state of California there is just one company that honors “national flight certificates” and they are in the Los Angeles area. . Unfortunately all the Napa, Sonoma Valley and Calistoga area glider ride operations and clubs have been closed over the years due to land development issues.

Why are scenic glider rides considered one of the safest ways to fly?
Scenic glider rides are considered one of the safest ways to fly because we only fly in good weather conditions, we do not have complex control systems, we always fly with in a safe gliding distance to the airport, the gliders are flown by FAA certified commercial pilots who must maintain strict FAA flight currency requirements, the gliders are all FAA certified for commercial glider ride use and the gliders are maintained by FAA certified aircraft mechanics to strict FAA maintenance inspection requirements. Be careful on your drive to the Hollister Airport; this is statistically the riskier part of your adventure.

All of our intro lessons are given
by the Hollister Gliding Club

Customer ALERT!!!
Please read before continuing to our website

Please note that we do not work with nor honor any gift certificates sold by national ticket agencies.

We have had a number of people calling or showing up at our office with gift certificates they bought from a national ticket agency. They were lead to believe through the vendor's website or were told over the phone that they could be used at our location or another one in the Bay Area for a glider ride. These companies do business under many different names and have 100's of websites nationwide, but there are no glider operators in California, much less the Bay Area, that we could find who honor their gift certificates.

Always be very careful if you cannot find good and specific directions to the location (airport) where you are supposed to be able to take your glider flight. Remember that if the vendor is saying it is 'near' San Jose or San Francisco, that may mean it is 500 miles away, legally! Please give us a call if you have any questions.
